After weeks of dominating the #STLDog bracket, the Slinger Dog was solidly defeated when Steve's customers voted for the HYAAAH! Dog to move on in the battle to become the official hot dog of St. Louis.
This week, our two contenders are the HYAAAH! Dog and the Pork Steak Dog! Stop in now through Sunday to get both dogs for $12 to choose the hot dog to represent the City of St. Louis.
The HYAAAH! Dog has been a menu staple at Steve's Hot Dogs, developed by long-term chef and manager Joe Zeable - our famous smoked and grilled dog with grilled onions, grilled peppers, banana peppers, bacon, and provolone cheese topped with our housemade smokey pepper mustard. "I'm excited to know that one of the final contenders in this battle is a recipe that originated in-house at our shop years ago," said Zeable, who noted what an honor it would be to be the creator of the official hot dog of St. Louis.
The Pork Steak dog recipe, developed by our own General Manager Chef Jeremy Robinson, was inspired by the suggestions of Steve's Hot Dogs customers. The recipe has dominated the competition with tender pork steak shredded and pulled on top of our smoked all-beef hot dog. The dog is then topped with creamy slaw, our Steve's Famous Honey Chipotle BBQ sauce, and fried onions. "You really can't lose either way you go in this competition," said Robinson, "Both recipes are inspired by and voted by the people of St. Louis. At the end of this week, our customers and the community will have made history. I can't wait to see which way it goes."
